AbleTalk Therapies was started eighteen years ago by two speech-language pathologists who had worked together at the University of Tulsa. We had a mutual desire to work with children directly, not just teach college students how to do it. Our desire to serve, and to provide children with appropriate, professional therapies, is still the driving force behind what we do eighteen years later, under the same ownership, and even at the same location where it all originally started.
We specialize in providing speech and language evaluations and therapy in English and Spanish. Speech therapy includes working with speech sounds, stuttering, tongue thrust, and apraxia of speech. Language therapy includes working on complete sentence structures, vocabulary, understanding and answering questions, understanding and following directions, and much more. All of our speech pathologists have expertise in augmentative communication, extensive training in speech and language problems, as well as training in swallowing and infant feeding, which includes sensory problems and various therapeutic approaches for those “picky eaters.”
We also provide occupational therapy and evaluations. This includes working to improve fine motor coordination, visual-motor coordination, attention, sensory problems, and more. Interpretation is also available for our occupational therapy services.
All of our clinicians are licensed in the state of Oklahoma, and some even have thirty or more years of experience. We welcome referrals from doctors, dentists, orthodontists, and parents. We accept Sooner Care, most other insurances, and can usually get a child scheduled for an initial evaluation within one week of authorization.
If needed, bilingual administrative assistance is also made available Monday through Friday from 10 AM – 5 PM.
